Calvin Brooks - Jazz Guitarist, Vocalist, & Entertainer

A premier jazz guitarist from Detroit, the motor city, and is now living and performing in Las Vegas.

Paying his dues since the 70's , Brooks is a very skillful, smooth

versatile talent.

Now performing on the world famous Las Vegas strip, inside

Harrah's Hotel and Casino at the Range Steak House.

Sunday through Wednesday 5-10 P.M.

Bio

Adversity does not build character, it reveals character

One of five children, Calvin was born to parents William Brooks,

an automotive worker, and Rose a homemaker.

His parent's recognized his musical abilities early on and nurtured his talents

allowing him to study at the Grinnell school of music in Detroit.

Growing up in the 60's surrounded by the sounds and stars of Motown, Calvin spent endless hours playing his guitar to the ever present R & B , Jazz, Blues, and Gospel music.

By age 14, Brooks was being paid to play at local events and developed quite a reputation

within the music community of his hometown.

Calvin's love of music and his undeniable talent garnered him a "gig" with Martha Reeves and The Vandellas of Motown fame. For seventeen years, he toured the world and shared the stage with premiere entertainers.

These classic acts represent music history from the 1950's through today. This experience nutured his talents to fine tune his vocal skills and becoming a guitar virtuoso.

Calvin's influences are many, however Wes Montgomery, Grant Green, George Benson, Nat King Cole and David Ruffin top the list.

Calvin is devoted to his wife Cheryl, their sons and their grandchildren. He has been a part of the Las Vegas music community since 1999 and received “Excellent” reviews from the local media.
